We teach acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and classical guitar!

Rated the #1 guitar lessons provider in Blaine, MN by Lessons.com, and CBS News, Minnesota School of Music provides a unique, personalized guitar lesson experience for kids and teens. More than just accomplished musicians, our guitar teachers are trained music education professionals committed to empowering students through personalized, parent-inclusive music lessons.

Beginning students are introduced to single-note melodies, sight reading, and workbook activities. Advancing students may discover chords, ear training, and pop song arrangements. Regardless of age, we balance musicianship and fun by ensuring that each lesson includes our musical "vegetables, meat and potatoes, and of course, dessert!"

We use a variety of guitar method books to accomplish this and always encourage advancing students to come eager to learn their favorite songs!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our guitar teachers understand that every student is an individual with personal musical needs and goals. We prioritize tailoring how we teach and what we teach to each student’s individual needs.

If you enroll here for guitar lessons, your child’s teacher will ask them about their favorite type of music and set goals to help them accomplish their musical aspirations. Together, we will develop a plan to achieve your goals! We love beginners, so even if you don’t know where to begin, we can help!

We teach all styles from rock, pop, jazz, country, worship, blues, and classical. We combine the important fundamentals with the music you want to play. With all of the teachers at Minnesota School of Music, you are sure to find the best match for you.

Our instructors are highly qualified. All have a college degree, teaching experience, and a passion for teaching. Being a musician doesn’t automatically make a person a great teacher. That’s why we search for the best-qualified candidates who align with our company's values to mentor our music students!

From there, we provide industry-leading training on musical pedagogy, child development psychology, and customer service. We invest significant time and money in our people to ensure our students have a first-class lesson experience.

There is no set answer to how long it takes to learn to play guitar. Regular practice can accomplish a basic level of playing in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long-term basis because they want to improve constantly, and they find the lessons enjoyable.

You don't have to be Beethoven to support your kid. Music training is a collaborative effort that involves the student, teacher, and parents. To give your child the best chance at long-term success, we offer the following three suggestions for parents:

  • Be present during lessons

  • Check-in on weekly practice.

  • Encourage students to perform

Above all, the parent's primary role is to be present with their child and show them love and support. If you can do that, your child will likely succeed.

For more information on how to help your child prepare for long-term musical success, check out Mr. Nehring's article "3 Tips to Maximize Your Child's Music Training" from our January 2024 edition of The Monthly Musician.
